For the past 20-plus years, I’ve been a builder of R/C model boats. I keep another blog devoted to that pastime: Matthews Model Marine.  But I was recently asked to try something new– a large static/display model from the age of sail. This is the “Sovereign of the Seas” from the UK firm DeAgostini. What sets this kit (and DeAgostini) apart is how the kit is provided to the modeler… not one big box and a “good luck”, but rather over two years’ worth of weekly installments. This allows the modeler to subscribe to the build at a low weekly price (though it still adds up!), and to attack the build in small chunks and at a leisurely rate.

And that’s what I’ll be doing here… I have other projects on the ways, and I intend to fit this in between other tasks. Wish me luck with THAT!
